About this Recipe

Sinangag has been a favorite part of every Filipinx breakfast. This garlic filled fried rice is simple, comfort food and just the right start for anyone’s morning.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of cold, day old rice
  • 1 head of garlic, peeled, and minced
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
  • Sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

In a wok or large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the garlic into the oil and sauté until fragrant but not golden brown.

Step 3

Sprinkle the salt over the garlic, stir, and add in the cold rice.

Step 4

With a cooking utensil, break up the rice in the pan until the oil can evenly coat each grain.

Step 5

Increase to medium high heat and add in the coconut aminos to the rice.

Step 6

Stir fry the rice for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 7

Serve as a side dish to any of your ulam (main dishes) or use it in silog!
