About this Recipe

A delicious, veganized spin on two Filipinx staple items. Serve with sinangag and a vegan fried egg to create a new classic: tocino spamsilog!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 block of firm or extra firm tofu
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Slice tofu into ½ inch thickness. Press between a towel.

Step 2

Combine all other ingredients (marinade) in a container.

Step 3

Coat each slice of tofu and leave in the marinade. Leave for at least 30 minutes.

Step 4

To cook, fry the ones that are soaked in the marinade first and work your way up.

Step 5

Serve it on top of a salad, as a sandwich, or with garlic fried rice.
